Vacaville
Christmas Wish
Vacaville Christmas Wish began over 40 years ago through the efforts of the Children’s Network and social workers at Solano County’s Children’s Shelter. The goal of the program is to see that Vacaville’s low-income children are granted a special wish at Christmas time. All those eligible, including out-of-home placed and other disadvantaged children are referred to the program by social workers, mental health case managers, probation officers, foster/group home providers, school nurses/teachers, neighborhood resource centers, etc.
Initially the program served about 100 dependent children in the foster care system. By 1987 the program had broadened in its scope and expanded to over 1000 children. Solano Family and Children Services joined us in 1992 and the program expanded, serving as many as 2500 children annually.
The Vacaville Christmas Wish program is an all-volunteer effort. Tremendous community involvement and collaboration is the key to our success. Thanks to local corporations, small businesses, churches, schools, service organizations, and individual families, we are able to make a difference at this time of year. Thank you for your continued support!
